More Than This?

"So they're real musicians then."
Steve

Biddie(13) is a twee bit obsessed with a certain boy band from across the pond. She bought the One Direction video with money from her babysitting gig and conned Steve into watching it with her. This is the conversation I overheard.

Steve: “Do any of these guys play instruments?”

Biddie: “Oh, yeah. Harry plays the kazoo. And that one plays the triangle.”

Steve: “So they’re real musicians then.”

Thinking that their musical talent might not be the main draw. . .

LOL Too funny. I’ve got 2 who are also a bit obsessed with 1D. Each morning, when my girls either make or miss the school bus, I post a song about their bus adventures. Here is todays:

    Jenn missed the bus
    Don’t know what for
I got her up with enough time and mo-oo-oore

    I don’t know why
    I even try
When all I hear is the sound of her sno-oo-oore

Everyone else in the world can make it
    Everyone else but you

Jenn you missed the school bus like nobody else
The way that you take a shower, it’s loo-ooo-ong
But when you can’t find your pants it just makes me nuts
    You don’t knowwww
    You don’t know how angry I aa-aa-ammm
That’s what makes me angry, Jenn

*in honor of One Direction’s two wins at the VMA’s this one is sung to “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful”

I’m with Birdie – Love them!! I get the 13 year old obsession with them. And what does Steve mean that kazoo and the triangle are not instruments (p.s. don’t tell Eric I wrote this…)

See, Mary? You just read the sarcasm in my husband’s voice. You know him too well. It went right over Biddie’s head. ; ) Erin

Seriously? The kazoo and the triangle?!?! No joke? I’ve never heard of these guys, but boy band days are behind me (and ahead of me?).

What made it go all the way down the rabbit hole was the dinner conversation later where the kids were trying to justify that the kazoo and triangle were indeed instruments? The ruling: if a 5 year old can play it without any training, probably not a proper instrument. Put it in the family of cow bell. But the world can always use more cow bell. Erin

The kazoo? I can’t believe she said that. What happen to the level headed biddie

Birdie is lucky her dad watched the video with her. My husband fully expected our girls to watch the VP and President speak last night while 1D was on the VMA’s. I looked at him like he had 17 heads. Apparently he never fan-girled over a band when he was a teen.

So funny. I’ve heard of this “band,” of course. But never heard the song in the video. At least they’re not lip-synching. (Or are they?!)

They’re great musicians :) I kind of like One Direction though. My girls were making fun of me last night for being excited to see them on the VMAs.

Clearly they are real musicians! I’ve never heard of them – I have boys. But, this made me giggle about my youth and Tiger Beat, and Sean Cassidy, ha!
