Proclaimed while watching the Olympic equestrian events. There was more than a little outrage over the horses doing all of the work and the riders getting all of the credit. And just like that, the lively discussion left the gates.
Too cute. I love the Olympics! Today my 4 year old came and told me, “Mommy I hopped really far and I totally stuck the landing”! I cracked up so hard. QueenMomJen recently posted..What does a Princess wear to go to see a movie?
I was just recently clued in to how much money Olympic winners receive. In the case of equestrian events, I think the horse should receive a portion that guarantees a cushy life out in the fields. Think of it as a tax shelter, since I’m almost certain horses don’t pay taxes. Yet. Liz @ShiftlessMommie recently posted..How to win any argument
I never thought about the point that the horse does the foot work while the rider gets the medal, the endorsements, & the glory. I guess the same would apply to horse racing in general. Right? How about the bulls in the rodeo competition, too? I’m trying to think if there are other sports in the same situation. Great point. Pam Schmidt recently posted..The New Class List
aren’t there categories that are based on the horse? i can’t remember the names, but i thought there was one. maybe dressage? the horse should so keep the medal on that one.
also, in the link space above, i have a post about olympic equestrian outfits – for the riders. in retrospect i totally should have covered what the horses were wearing too. anna recently posted..Old Photo Friday: The Yellow Bikini

I agree–you don’t get the medal if you don’t do all the work. Point well taken.
She does make a good point.
That photo is perfect.
